On the whole, TERI MERI KAHAANI is uncomplicated and charming. Not the usual romantic fare, this one presents three different stories in three different eras without getting theatrical or melodramatic. Thanks to its innovative storytelling, it comes across as the perfect date movie, holding tremendous appeal for the Facebook Gen. TERI MERI KAHAANI is pleasurable and fascinating in equal measures!

On the whole, Teri Meri Kahaani is OK. Though it revives the long forgotten romantic era of Bollywood, it somehow lacks the potential of winning one's heart.

There is no doubt in the fact that the movie falls flat for its weak plot and storyline which offers nothing new to the audience which they would take home and cherish for days. There is no sense of chronology as the narrative begins with 1960, moves to 2012 and then, bizarrely, comes back to 1910.

Whose story, make that stories, and to what real end? That is the question that Teri Meri Kahaani leaves the audience with. The answer isn’t even worth looking for. A tale of love and passion that straddles three different eras, the film resorts to much trans-migratory mumbo-jumbo in trying to establish that an amorous bond of minds and souls survives the cycle of life and death and regenerates itself with every birth. Wow!

Teri Meri Kahaani takes its time to unfold, often using nuances and subtleties to bring home the point. Although the film spans stories in 1910, 1960 and 2012, there is no masala here, no melodrama. It is simple storytelling at its best, in an old-fashioned way. And no, it is NOT like Dangerous Ishhq! The connection between the three love stories has not been established too well in the film – or maybe because the lovers do not have any past life flashes. It takes some time for the viewer to understand it. But once you know it, it seems like it’s the sweetest romance. But Teri Meri Kahaani is not a mind-boggling film, and some of you might not like it. Also, people did not always laugh at the right moments, but the romance seemed to be liked by all.

An extremely slow movie where too much has been attempted without any purpose… it all feels pointless.

Yawn. Accuse this reviewer of not sounding spoiler alerts, but trust her to have saved you over two precious hours with the above few lines. ‘Something happens’ should be good enough.

Nobody loves a movie full of clichés. The party really gets pooped when the clichés are about love. Unfortunately Teri Meri Kahaani employs every known truism about love to establish its three love stories across three generations. The end result is an honest middle-of-the-road romance but unfortunately it feels too jaded to be true.

Teri Meri Kahaani could have worked better if all energies were used in making one perfect love story rather than having three faulty ones.

But you do know why this film exists in theatres. Those who follow film trade numbers often classify movies as “single screen” and “multiplex”, or “small-town” and “metro”. I guess the most central divide among movie audiences exists between males and females. You can figure this with the Friday of this film’s release. The men would have probably stepped into Gangs Of Wasseypur. For this movie, I am surrounded by young girls at my theatre. I keep turning back to check on what they’re really giggling at. They seem to be having fun. I can barely keep my eyes open, from boredom. Too bad. There's no way to get my money back either.

Kunal Kohli's latest is just gloss. TERI MERI KAHAANI is not only plain boring, but it also lacks imagination. With one lead pair of Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, Kunal weaves in three love stories in different settings and different eras. He shows us how the two bump into each other in a train in 1960s; they again bump into each other in London in 2012. Kunal then goes back in time to Lahore in 1910 when Shahid lands on Priyanka's terrace after a long chase by the English policemen. Remember we were then governed by the Britishers!
